Our programs

Year-round programming, not a one-off event

Girls enter GESL at Junior Secondary School (JSS1, usually aged 11–13) and graduate at Senior Secondary School (SS2) at 17–18 — six years of continuous support.

01

Triennial Summit

A three-day program that gathers young Sierra Leonean girls to participate in leadership development workshops.

02

Year-Round Mentorship Workshops

Workshops led and facilitated by Sierra Leonean women mentors across GESL's key programmatic areas, plus the Girl Talk Series and Mentorship Circles.

03

Community Development Project

A year-long project led by GESL girls in their own schools and communities, addressing the issues that matter most to their peers — scaling to national issues in their final years.

04

Emergency Assistance for Families

Emergency support for the families of GESL girls in times of crisis or disaster that would otherwise interrupt a girl's education.

IGNITE Series

Ending violence against women and girls

IGNITE is a blended-format series focused on violence against women and girls. Through local events, podcasts, videos and print, we sharpen the advocacy and activism skills of our participants.
